Created by Bill Lawrence, "Scrubs" is an American comedy drama which follows the lives of several employees of Sacred Heart, a teaching hospital. The show's narrator and main character is John Dorian, nicknamed "J.D.". Starting the series as a staff intern, he describes the life, his colleagues and their adventures, in his own style, seasoned with many screamingly funny daydreams and interior monologues. Thus and so, we get to know the other characters like J.D.'s fellow intern and later private practice physician Elliot Reid, his best friend Dr. Christopher Duncan Turk, the hospital's head nurse Carla Espinosa, the cynical mentor Dr. Percival Ulysses "Perry" Cox, the Sacred Heart's Chief of Medicine Dr. Bob Kelso, the hospital's custodian, impersonally known as "Janitor"… and many others.
The storyline is kind of lazy, "Scrubs" focusing more on the implications of the events than on events themselves. In eight seasons, the changes aren't at all radical or spectacular. It's more a professional development of the medical team and a bit sinuous evolution of the personal relationships between the doctors. But always cheerful, optimistic and sentimental J.D. who constantly thwarts with the eternal bitter, sarcastic and harsh Perry Cox and the most ridiculous blunders blended with the rough reality and put in a beautiful and quite optimistic light give the show's bloom. Friendships and romances, the characters, nice gestures… all are imperfect, funny, sometimes foolish, but essentially full of spirit and that’s all that matters. The show is like a perfect amalgam between humor of The Simpsons kind, Seinfeld's psychology and complex characters with a particular charm. Follow those amazing doctors as they face issues, family obligations, overwhelming paperwork and a tremendous number of patients!
"Half as long as ER and twice as funny", "Scrubs" proves that humor and tragedy can merge paths at any time. Go ahead guys… enjoy the series! No regrets will show up afterward…"
